A hybrid platform. working with curators, writers, theorists and artists to smudge
cultural differences and attitudes across physical and national borders.
. Pushing the programme, exploring the traffic in ideas that are nomadic,
with a focus on perceptions rather than stereotypes and assumptions.
We come to play, escape prejudice and shout for renegade
values of the unfixable, broken and unhomely.

2011
- www.lefigaro.fr/sortir-paris/2011/09/27/03013-20110927ARTFIG00882-nuit-blanche-2011-parcours-nouvelle-athenes-montmartre.php

Sachiko Abe delivers a new version of the performance “Cut Papers” in the atrium of the ESMOD school. Imperturbable, she continually cuts sheets of paper. The cuts of scissors, the accumulation of scraps, mark the inexorable passage of time. Between repetition and obsession, this hypnotizing action questions the nature and place of art, the role of the artist. In this radical gesture of withdrawal, “Cut Papers” takes an uncompromising look at reality in progress and leads the viewer towards their own questions.

"By 4am on Sunday I was watching and listening to Sachiko Abe cut papers in what was a mesmerizing dream. It was one of those things, that I would never have fully comprehended until I saw her sitting in a cloud of finely cut papers. All night, with only a 30 minute break every hour and a half this angelic figure would finely trim (~1mm) the edges of a piece of paper as the audio sound of the scissors cutting was amphlified in the room, then turn the paper and continue cutting. As she sat there looking angelica and completely focused, I couldn’t help think how she isn’t getting a hand cramp and that she must have a seriously sharp pair of scissors. It was a performance I never in a million years could have imagined, but it was a pleasant surprise to find myself entranced". - Anne Ditmeyer
